Film star and former Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger will soon provide the voice giving navigational instructions on the Waze app for avoiding traffic jams. The app is a cooperative effort of Waze parent company Google and Paramount Studios, which is responsible for Terminator Genesys, the latest movie in the terminator series, whose premier is scheduled for July 1.
"In 1984, when we filmed the first terminator movie, we mentioned that the world was controlled by machines," Schwarzenegger told USA Today. "Today, you have machines that tell you where to drive." According to reports, Schwarzenegger spent an entire hour recording the voice navigational instructions, including routine things like "Turn right in another 200 meters," not to mention "Hasta la vista, baby" when the user reaches his destination.
Cooperation between Waze and Schwarzenegger will be completed in mid-July. According to the report on the USA Today website that revealed this cooperation, Waze has 50 million users worldwide, compared with 15 million users of the app in 2012. Figures reported exclusively in "Globes" last week indicated that Waze had 2.9 million users a day in the Israeli market.
