The Abba Hillel station will be constructed by the cut and cover method.

NTA Metropolitan Mass Transit System Ltd. has begun construction of the fourth underground station on the Tel Aviv light rail Red Line - the Abba Hillel station in Ramat Gan near the Diamond Exchange. The station is the first of two Red Line underground stations to be constructed in Ramat Gan; the second will be the Bialik station.

The cut and cover method stages system will be used for building the station. Construction of the southern part of the station will begin in the first stage. In less than a year, the southern part will be covered by a steel deck with concrete pavement on top to allow traffic to flow above the underground work. The second stage will then begin with the digging of the central section of the underground station, and so on to the northern segment.

Construction of the station will be accompanied by changes in traffic arrangements in the area. Vehicles on Jabotinsky Rd. traveling east will not be allowed to turn left onto Abba Hillel St.; a new left turn will be opened from Jabotinsky Rd. to Gilad St., and from there back to Abba Hillel St.

Minister of Transport Yisrael Katz said, "Last month, we took several significant steps towards making the vision of a light rail in the Greater Tel Aviv area a reality. The work is now being extended to the Ramat Gan area for work on the Abba Hillel station. In this station, also, work will be done with a minimum of disorder and disruption of the residents' daily lives. We are utilizing all available means to make things easier for th public and are preparing seriously and completely for this. I am convinced that with our preparations and those of the public, we will succeed in getting through this enterprise in good fashion, and in facilitating the continuation of daily life."
