Daniel Atar will be replaced in the Knesset by environmental activist Yael Cohen Paran.

Zionist Union MK Daniel Atar was elected chairman of the Jewish National Fund (JNF) Keren Kayemeth Le-Israel at the Zionist Congress in Jerusalem last night. He received 684 votes from delegates, beating Yeruham mayor Michael Biton (445 votes) and incumbent chairman is Efi Stenzler (333 votes), who has occupied the position for eight years.

After the votes were counted Atar said, "Members of the Labor party sent me to represent them and the Labor movement's values at the JNF and I thank them for doing so. I'm excited by my election and aware of the importance of the task to restore the credibility of the JNF in the public's eyes, and replace cynicism with Zionism and endeavor for the State of Israel and its citizens.

Atar will resign from the Knesset and be replaced by Yael Cohen Paran, a 42 year-old mother of three and environmental activist and founder of the Israel Energy Forum.
