Dor Alon beats Sonol in gas stations bid

Kliot Energy put gas stations up for sale by tender.

Alon Israel Oil Company Ltd. subsidiary Dor Alon Energy in Israel (1988) Ltd. (TASE:DRAL) has beaten Azrieli Group unit Sonol Israel Ltd. to buy gas stations of family-owned agency Kliot Energy Ltd.

Kliot put 16 of its 19 gas stations up for sale by tender. Some of the gas stations were franchises of Dor Alon or Sonol, and others were independent. Sources inform ''Globes'' that Dor Alon acquired nine of the gas stations, including four Sonol gas stations in the Sharon area. Dor Alon will now operate these gas stations.

Kliot Energy currently owns 19 gas stations, mainly in the northern Sharon area between Caesarea and Zichron Yaakov. The company also operates in the institutional market and supplies diesel and oils to industry, businesses, and private customers.

Kliot Energy's tender was an opportunity for Israel's large fuel companies to increase their presence in the Sharon. In recent years, most of the large agencies have sold their gas stations operations as part of the fuel companies' strategies to acquire full ownership of them.
