IDF to vacate more of Tel Aviv GHQ

The vacated area is designated for real estate projects.

The IDF will vacate almost 10% of the General Headquarters (the Kirya) site in Tel Aviv to the city municipality. The Ministry of Defense will sell 34 dunam (8.5 acres) to the Israel Land Administration (ILA), which will sell it to the Tel Aviv-Jaffa municipality, which will then market the land to developers.

The area is located on the northeast section of the Kirya along Shaul Hamelekh Boulevard to the corner of Namir Road. The Kirya currently covers more than 300 dunam (75 acres) of prime real estate in north Tel Aviv. Most of the land is owned by the Tel Aviv municipality, part is owned by the state and the Jewish National Fund, and part has no registered owner.

A 1.2 kilometer section of the land to be sold will be allocated for the Tel Aviv light railway.

The sale of part of the Ministry of Defense's plan to vacate IDF bases in central Israel and transfer them to the Negev.
