Lab software co Starlims in US public health deal

With the implementation, 20 out of 50 US states will utilize Starlims' public health laboratory information management solutions.

Laboratory information management system developer StarLIMS Technologies Ltd. (Nasdaq:LIMS); TASE: LIMS) will provide a web-based software system to a US public health department.

The contract, announced by Tel Aviv-based Starlims on Monday, is valued at approximately $1.2 million. It includes licenses for the company's software, first year maintenance, and professional services.

The department chose the Starlims web-based software to manage its laboratory informatics needs. With this new implementation, 20 out of the 50 states in the US will utilize Starlims' public health laboratory information management solutions.

About a month ago, the company announced that it had been selected by a major bio-tech company for the first major implementation of StarLIMS Electronic Notebook, a software solution designed to replace paper notebooks, in a deal worth about $4 million.

Shares in Starlims closed yesterday at $5.50, giving it a market cap of $46.2 million.
