Businessman Eli Lahav is planning to invest NIS 100 million in building a country club and 120-room hotel next to the shopping mall currently being built in Be'er Sheva.
However, in order to build the hotel, Lahav needs to win the Israel Land Authority tender to lease a plot for hotels and leisure on the Neot Hamidbar lot. As "Globes" reported two weeks ago, the tender concerns 20,327 square meters and zoning permission according to the city building plan is for a tourist and leisure enterprise.
If he wins the tender, Lahav can build a hotel of three to five star quality in a building not higher than 12-floors and with a maximum of 240 rooms.
Lahav plans building 120 rooms and country club including an Olympic swimming pool, tennis courts, fitness club, jacuzzi and saunas and other sports halls.
At present there is only one major hotel in Be'er Sheva, the Leonardo Negev (formerly the Golden Tulip) run by Fattal Hotel Management Ltd..
