NavNGo sues websites over iPhone GPS

Although NavNGo not yet released a map for Israel, but that the respondents were distributing unauthorized maps of Europe that included Israel.

Israeli-Hungarian GPS navigation solutions developer NavNGo Ktd., which has developed the iGO navigator for iPhones, has filed a NIS 1 million lawsuit with the Central District Court against the owners and managers of websites sources.co.il and sourcesil for rights violations. The respondents took the sites off the air in response, leaving the following message: "The site has been closed due to legal clarification."

NavNGo alleges that the websites' owners and managers violated its rights to iGO, and that the respondents encouraged the violation of the company's rights by distributing links to online files that violated these rights. NavNGo asked the court to issue an injunction against the respondents, ordering them to cease and desist violating the company's rights by copying, duplicating, and distributing links to the company's navigation software files.

NavNGo has already released iGO navigation maps for North America and Europe. The company stated in the lawsuit that it has not yet released a map for Israel, but that the respondents were distributing maps of Europe that included Israel.

NavNGo stated, "We want to warn our customers that there is currently no authorized and legal map of Israel for the iPhone. This is an illegal and dangerous version that does not distinguish between Israeli and Palestinian Authority territory, and is liable to lead users to dangerous roads."
