Internet software co Boxee wins 'Last Gadget Standing'

The start-up beat Motorola's Droid phone at the CES in Las Vegas.

Israeli start-up Boxee TV Ltd. won the 'Last Gadget Standing' competition at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Boxee was proclaimed the best gadget on the basis of the length and volume of audience applause.

Boxee has developed a device with software that enables TVs to play videos and music from the web in a way that according to the company's presentation "even a zebra can use." The Internet software company has its development center in Tel Aviv.

In scooping the prestigious award, Boxee beat Motorola's Droid mobile phone and the Que Pro Reader touch screen device.

Boxee's device was designed by Korean company D-Link, which also designed Microsoft Corp.'s Xbox 360.

Boxee's device will be available in the second half of 2010 and will cost $200.
