Baran files new suit against Intel

The engineering firm claims damages from a sewage treatment project near Intel's Kiryat Gat fab.

Baran Group (TASE: BRAN; Pink Sheets:BRANF) yesterday filed another lawsuit with the Tel Aviv District Court against Intel Corporation (Nasdaq: INTC) subsidiary Intel Israel Ltd. In the NIS 16.5 million lawsuit, Baran claims damages from Intel Israel over a sewage treatment project that it built near the company's Fab 28 in Kiryat Gat.

Among other things, Baran claims that Intel delayed completion of the project for 18 months, and that Intel is reneging on its commitments. Baran claims that Intel has not paid it for work carried out for the project.

In September 2009, Baran filed a NIS 43 million lawsuit against Intel Israel, accusing it of not paying in full the contractual compensation for the construction of two buildings for Intel in Kiryat Gat. A week earlier, Intel filed a NIS 103 million lawsuit against Baran for alleged damages caused during construction of Intel's new green standard development center in Haifa.
