"We wish the Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA) a rosier future. We're ready to help and do more as a country, but IBA's employees must also help themselves, and then the plan will succeed," Minister of Finance Yuval Steinitz told “IDF Radio" (Galei Zahal) this morning, commenting on the crisis at IBA, which is responsible for Channel 1, 33, the Knesset Channel 99, and education channel 23.
Steinitz added, "The Ministry of Finance has made concessions to IBA, but it must also act. There's a limit to what the government and Ministry of Finance can do. I hope we won't have to close IBA; that's between us and them. A very good recovery plan has been prepared, and I hope that it will help."
Commenting on the national transport plan, Steinitz said, "There has been no foot dragging; discussions were held behind closed doors before being leaked to the media. The result will contribute toward linking the periphery to the center of the country."
