The new branch of Swedish furniture chain IKEA Israel is set to open tomorrow in Me'uyan Soreq in Rishon Lezion. The 34,000-square meter store will be the biggest IKEA store in the Middle East. The pedestrian path through the store is two kilometers long, with 46 display rooms. The store has 1,400 parking spaces, seven elevators, three escalators, a small cinema, and wheelchairs.
IKEA's second branch in Israel will offer the same 7,500 furniture products which are for sale at its Netanya store.
Meanwhile, sources inform "Globes" that British-Israel Investments Ltd. (TASE: BRTS), which leases the land to IKEA on which the store is situated, is mulling a bid for a Israel Lands Administration tender for adjacent lots. The ILA is marketing 164 dunams (41 acres) in Me'uyan Soreq, which have been rezoned from industry to industry and commerce.
