The workers committee at First International Bank of Israel (TASE: FTIN1;FTIN5) will call a three-day strike, beginning tomorrow, as part of its battle with the bank's management. The workers committee will meet on Sunday to decide on its next measures.
First International Bank workers committee chairman Hanoch Livne said, "We prepared in advance for a long struggle against the bank's management and owner. We've already learned that at this bank, it's only possible to reach achievements with strikes and intense labor actions."
The bank's employees are demanding a bonus of more than one-month's salary, as employees at Bank Leumi (TASE: LUMI) receive. They are also protesting plans by the bank's management to dock employees' pay for last week's strike, including those who were sick that day.
A First International Bank spokeswoman said, "The workers committee's actions are unjustified in view of the excellent salary conditions at the bank. The actions are even more astonishing in view of the fact that salaries of the bank's employees are linked to the salaries at Bank Leumi, which are among the highest in the banking system."
