Mobile Internet marketing co Amobee wins Germany deal

Gruner + Jahr Electronic Media Sales represents 75% of premium mobile content in Germany.

Mobile advertising solutions developer Amobee Media Systems Inc is entering the German market, after signing a contract with by Gruner + Jahr Electronic Media Sales (G+J EMS) GmbH, which represents 75% of premium mobile content in Germany. Amobee will become G+J EMS' exclusive partner in mobile advertising, serving billions of ads impressions per month.

Amobee has developed a mobile advertising and campaign management platform, which adapts content to different communications methods, including SMS, MMS, video clips, music clips, games, and mobile Internet.

The contract with G+J EMS is also Amobee's first deal with a partner other than a communications provider, and therefore represents a diversification of its business.

Amboee CEO Zohar Levkovitz said that Germany was the largest market in Europe, and that Amobee now covers almost 80% of the market. "We're trying to consolidate the market. The mobile advertising market is fragmented and an advertiser can't reach a large audience with a single purchase of advertising space. The goal is for advertisers to come to Amobee and buy from us advertising space in a more efficient way."

In January, Amobee acquired British mobile advertising agency RingRingMedia Ltd., which provides content and advertising space purchasing services, for $15-20 million.
