The number of job vacancies in Israel fell 13.2% in August, compared with July. According to the Central Bureau of Statistics, there were 53,800 job vacancies in August, down from 62,000 in July, a drop of 8,200 openings.
At the same time, the number of employed persons in the business sector fell 30,000, after five straight months of rises in that figure.
Nonetheless, the figures still show growth compared to a year ago. There were 42,200 job vacancies in August, 2009, (11,600 fewer than now) so the current figure is 27.4% higher.
The sector with the biggest drop compared with last month was wholesale trade, which has 3,400 fewer job vacancies. The business services sector has 3,300 fewer job vacancies.
The Central Bureau of Statistics noted that the July and August figures are not seasonally adjusted, so it is too early to tell if there is a negative trend developing.
