Alvarion expands Linkem 4G network in Italy

Linkem plans to expand its 4G network into Italian regions Lombardia Veneto, Campania, and Calabria.

Broadband wireless equipment and systems developer Alvarion Ltd. (Nasdaq: ALVR; TASE: ALVR) will supply a complete 4G network to Italian wireless broadband service provider Linkem Spa.

Linkem plans to expand its 4G broadband wireless network into new Italian regions of Lombardia Veneto, Lazio, Campania, Puglia, Calabria and Sicilia.

Alvarion will supply the end-to-end network including radio access network, core network, end user devices and professional services.

The €5 million contract will be an expansion of a contract awarded to Alvarion in 2008.

Linkem CEO Davide Rota said, "We have an aggressive strategy of expanding our coverage footprint throughout Italy so we can bring quality broadband services to more and more consumers and businesses around the country.” said Davide Rota, CEO of Linkem.

Alvarion president and CEO Eran Gorev said that the network expansion is "further evidence of the expanding role we are playing at the request of our customers."

Alvarion shares fell 1.1% to NIS 10.33 in afternoon trading on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange (TASE).
