Mazor Robotics receives first Italian SpineAssist order

This order is part of Mazor's strategy of expanding sales outside of the US and Germany.

Mazor Robotics Ltd. (TASE:MZOR) today reported its first ever order from Italy for its SpineAssist robotic system for spinal surgical procedures. The company develops medical devices for robot guided surgery for higher precision and minimum invasiveness.

Mazor recently signed a distribution agreement with Italy's AB Medica SpA, which specializes in marketing robotic surgical equipment. AB Medica already sells the da Vinci surgical system made by Intuitive Surgical Inc. (Nasdaq: ISRG), among other products, and Mazor sees its partnership with the experienced Italian firm as having strategic importance.

The robotic system for spinal surgical procedures was ordered by AB Medica as a demonstration model for marketing purposes.

This order is part of Mazor's strategy of expanding sales outside of the US and Germany. In addition to the US, Germany and now Italy, Mazor has sold systems in Russia, Austria, Switzerland and Holland.

Mazor's share price rose 1.75% to NIS 10.08 in early afternoon trading on the TASE today.
