Disruptions in Cellcom network in Haifa and north

Cellcom's rivals, Partner and Pelephone also experienced problems in the northern region.

The network of Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) has crashed in Haifa and the north, disrupting mobile telephone and Internet services. The crash comes six months after the company suffered a nationwide crash of its network.

Dozens of Cellcom's mobile sites in the north reportedly broke down, blacking out telephone and data services.

Cellcom's rivals, Orange franchisee Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR) and Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) mobile subsidiary Pelephone Communications Ltd. are also having problems.

The breakdown occurred in Cellcom's 3G network and many subscribers were transferred to the company's 2.5G GSM network.

On December 1, 2010, Cellcom's network crashed nationwide.

Cellcom was not available for comment.
