Singer Margalit Tzan'ani indicted

Tzan'ani is charged with extortion with threats and conspiracy to commit a crime and reportedly rigged voting as a judge in "A Star is Born."

The Tel Aviv District Prosecutor today filed an indictment in the Tel Aviv District Court against singer Margalit Tzan'ani and alleged accomplice Michael Hazan on serious charges of extortion with threats and conspiracy to commit a crime.

According to the charge sheet, Tzan'ani and Hazan extorted money with threats from Assaf Atregi, her former agent and her manager Omer Adam.

The threats were for Atregi to fulfill an arbitration order obligating him to pay hundreds of thousands of shekels of Adam's income. The district prosecutor also charges that in exchange for the assistance of Shalom Domrani in threatening Atregi, Tzanani, who is a judge in Channel 2's Star is Born (the Israeli equivalent of American Idol), voted on contestants according to the instructions of Hazan and his friends. It is also claimed that she tried to convince contestants to leave the programs production company Teddy Productions and join an agency that Domrani and Hazan planned to set up.
