Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu responded today for the first time to last night's massive protests all over the country. "The government is committed to making real changes, to reduce the cost of living, and to correct social injustices," said Netanyahu at the weekly cabinet meeting.
Netanyahu also said that, "We have a unique opportunity to make changes through the public discourse that the Trajtenberg committee has begun with the public." According to the report, Netanyahu has committed to implement the committee's recommendations quickly.
With respect to the deep crisis in relations with Turkey, Netanyahu said that, "Israel never wanted its relations with Turkey to deteriorate, and does not want them to now."
"We will not apologize for commando soldiers who defended themselves against violent IHH activists, and we will not apologize for trying to prevent the terrorist organization Hamas from smuggling arms, which will be used to shoot at our citizens," he added.
