Dominique Strauss-Kahn denies planning to move to Israel

The French media speculated that the couple were about to immigrate to Israel after they paid a surprise visit to the country last weekend.

Former IMF head Dominique Strauss-Kahn and his wife the French journalist Anne Sinclair have denied reports that they plan immigrating to Israel. The French media speculated that the couple were about to move to Israel after they paid a surprise visit to the country last weekend.

However, the couple's lawyer Richard Malka told AFP, "Anne Sinclair and Dominique Strauss-Kahn formally deny ever having envisaged moving to Israel as alleged today by a weekly that could not find any news. These rumours are deeply unhealthy and ill-intentioned."

Last weekend Strauss-Kahn and Sinclair, were in Israel as guests of French-born businessman Jacques Friedmann, a former owner of the French TV station Canal Plus, at his Savion home. They also dined with Alrov (Israel) Ltd. (TASE: ALRO) chairman and controlling shareholder Alfred Akirov.

There were even reports that Strauss-Kahn could be a candidate to succeed Prof. Stanley Fischer as Governor of the Bank of Israel.

Strauss-Kahn resigned as IMF managing director in May 2011 after being arrested by New York police on suspicion of sexually assaulting a chambermaid in a New York hotel. However, the charges were subsequently dropped.
