Carbonated drinks system manufacturer Sodastream International Ltd. (Nasdaq: SODA) has announced a strategic partnership agreement with Breville Pty Ltd., a unit of Australian based global small electrical aplliance provider Breville Group Ltd. (ASX: BRG). The collaboration is to jointly develop a soda maker, which is expected to be available at retailers in 2013. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.
SodaStream CEO Daniel Birnbaum said, "We are proud to launch our first global 'Powered-By SodaStream' initiative with Breville, who represent the highest quality in lifestyle kitchen products. The features of this new product will empower consumers to enjoy the many benefits of home soda making."
Breville acting CEO Jonathan Lord said, "The home carbonation market is one of the most exciting categories in kitchen appliances today. We are delighted to join forces with SodaStream to bring together our premium design capability with their industry leading technology."
SodaStream's share price rose 5% on Nasdaq to $31.76, giving a market cap of $640.55 million.
