Traffic report app company Waze has launched a new location-guided ad platform suitable for both local retailers and nationwide brands. Using Waze platform, advertisers can attract new customers by identifying potential consumers driving in the area near their business. Waze Ads allows companies to add their business to the crowd-sourcing app.
Advertisers can tap into Waze's user base of 30 million, and the start up claims average user engagement of more than 440 minutes per month. Over 50% of Waze users say they stop during an average drive.
Waze users now see pins on their smartphone screen showing logos for stores, hotels and other businesses. No more than three sponsored pins will show up on the screen at any given time, alongside the traffic alerts.
Major companies such as Shell, Exxon, Best Buy, Nike, Hertz, and Pizza Hut have participated in Waze's pilot ad program in recent months. New ad partners include Dunkin’ Donuts, Kum & Go, Wyndham Hotels, Jamba Juice and P&G. Through the end of November, Waze is offering advertisers a $50 free credit towards ads.
