YouPhone CEO: NIS 79 plan is profitable

Ariel Schreiber said his company's monthly plan is the cheapest because rivals are only offering NIS 49 plans for six months.

As Hot Telecom and Golan Telecom spark a price war with their NIS 49.90 per month unlimited mobile phone packages, Alon-Israel Oil Co. Ltd. unit mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) YouPhone has remained silent even though the new company's package is no less game changing. YouPhone's monthly unlimited package costs NIS 79 but by purchasing products at the group's Mega supermarkets, or filling up gasoline at Dor-Alon stations, consumers can gain credits and lower this price further.

Interviewed by "Globes TV" YouPhone CEO Ariel Schreiber insisted that his company can make a profit with its packages. He said, "As a retail company we are used to very low profit margins. We can definitely turn a profit and our customers can expect more surprises in the future. I feel this is a very aggressive and tough sector but we can succeed in my opinion very nicely in making ourselves a place in it."

Schreiber insists that YouPhone remains the cheapest show in town because both Golan Telecom and Hot Telecom's NIS 49 per month unlimited plan offer is only for six months.

Asked about the surprises planned for the future he said, "One of the things we are doing is integrating with our customer loyalty club. We are giving customers all sorts of benefits and that's what our customers will see. Many more treats.

Schreiber said that YouPhone already has more than 20,000 subscribers.
