Low-cost carrier easyJet plc (LSE:EZJ) today inaugurated flights between Tel Aviv and Rome. The first flight departed Ben Gurion airport at 6 pm en route to Rome's Fiumicino Airport. From today, easyJet will operate two weekly flights on the Tel Aviv - Rome route on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Fares start at €44.24 from Tel Aviv to Rome one way and €42.74 from Rome to Tel Aviv, all taxes included.
easyJet entered the Israeli market in November 2009, when the airline introduced its first flights between London’s Luton airport and Tel Aviv. Since then easyJet has increased the frequency of flights to London to 11 times weekly, and launched three other routes from Tel Aviv to Geneva and Basel in Switzerland (4 times a week each), and Manchester (twice a week).
easyJet’s UK and Middle East commercial manager Hugh Aitken said, "The new route emphasises that easyJet is a long term committed partner of the Israeli economy and tourism industry."
