Samsung is drastically cutting back its laptop sales activities in Israel. The global market is highly competitive in the laptop sector with falling sales worldwide, and Samsung, which only began selling laptops in Israel in 2010, has only been able to capture a small market share.
In the first half of 2013, Samsung had a 7.2% market share in Israel laptop sales compared with 11.5% in the corresponding period of 2012. Samsung's market share fell even further in the third quarter of 2013 to 4.2%, making it the sixth largest laptop seller in Israel, and 3.7% in the fourth quarter, putting it down to ninth position. Lenovo, for example, held a 22.6% market share in the first half of 2013, according to IDC Israel.
Despite its disappointing performance with laptops, Samsung leads in the sale of smartphones and tablets in Israel.
