Senior IDF source: Hamas is on the path to collision and conflict.

More than 100 rockets have been fired into Israel since yesterday from the Gaza strip. Iron dome intercepted 28 rockets and most of the others fell on open ground but there was a direct hit on a house in the Hof Ashkelon region and injuries in Sderot and the Eshkol region. The rockets that were not intercepted by the Iron Dome missile defense system fell into Israeli villages surrounding the Gaza border where one person sustained medium to severe injuries and nine others sustained medium to light injuries.

In retaliation, Israeli jet fighters attacked more than 140 strategic targets in the Gaza strip where the Palestinian authorities reported that three people were killed.

The Israeli authorities have announced that Sapir College will be closed today as will many of the roads in the region. Farmers have been instructed not to work in their fields. Israel Railways has said that trains will not be running on the line between Ashkelon and Sderot.

A senior military source said that he believes the attacks will continue and that if necessary Israeli villages and towns will be evacuated. He said, "Hamas is moving away from an arrangement to calm things down and is moving near to a war in which it would be hit hard. Hamas is on the path of collision and conflict out of a desire to create a new balance of power."
