Starting today, El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. (TASE: ELAL) is operating three direct flights from Ben Gurion Airport to Logan International Airport in Boston using Boeing 767-300 planes. The flights take off on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 00:30 AM and land at 5:45 AM local time, after a 12-hour flight. Return flights from Boston to Tel Aviv will take off on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays at 9:00 AM local time, and land on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 3:05 PM. The duration of the return flight will be 11 hours. Flights to Boston in tourist class will cost $1,400.
The first flight took off from Ben Gurion Airport last night. El Al CEO David Maimon, US Ambassador to Israel Daniel Shapiro, and Rabbi Yitzchak Dovid Grossman cut the ribbon and welcomed the passengers to Boston on the maiden flight. "I'm glad to inaugurate El Al's new route to Boston," Maimon said. "El Al sees strategic value in bolstering its North American business. In this context, El Al has set a target of expansion and growth in its flights there, while responding to trends and needs in business and tourist travel and fostering tourist traffic to Israel.
"Boston is very popular destination for business traffic, and with the opening of the new route now, we believe that it will become a popular vacation destination for Israeli families."
Shapiro said, "I'm excited about the inauguration of a direct El Al route to Boston. The route will lead to growth in economic ties between Israel and Boston - the high-tech capital of the US - and will bring Bostonians closer to Israel."
