Fattal Hotel Management Ltd. has opened a new hotel in Ashkelon as part of its Leonardo chain at an investment of NIS 15 million. The hotel was developed from a disused structure near the marina that had stood empty for years. The company converted the building from top to bottom into a hotel with 131 rooms with balconies facing the sea.
The hotel also has a spa, eight treatment rooms, restaurant, swimming pool, fitness room, children's club and business lobby as well as four conference rooms, the largest of which can hold 850 people.
In July the hotel is offering rooms for NIS 690 per night compared with NIS 990 for similar quality accommodation in Eilat.
The Leonard Ashkelon will compete with two other hotels in the city the Holiday Inn and Dan Gardens.
Fattal CEO Reuven Elkes said, "We want to present Ashkelon in the summer as a realistic alternative for Israeli families looking for a leisure resort that combines beaches and attractive prices."
Fattal's Israel chain comprises 31 hotels including two other recent additions in Tel Aviv in the 22 Rothschild Tower and Bet Amot in the Ramat Hahayil business district.
