Despite the hundreds of rockets raining down on Ashdod, hotelier has not changed his plans to open a hotel in the city. Yesterday Fattal Hotels CEO David Fattal announced that the Leonardo Plaza Ashdod will open on Rosh Hashana.
He said, "We believe in Israeli tourism and we will continue to invest here and bring tourists from Israel and abroad to the southern region. Ashdod has one of the most beautiful coastal strips in Israel and in a time of peace can become, like Ashkelon, the southern Riviera."
The Fattal chain will manage and operate the hotel after renovations costing NIS 5 million are completed. (The hotel was built several years ago but left abandoned before it was completed).
The 183-room hotel includes 11 suites, a gourmet restaurant, dining room opening out to a swimming pool and the sea, business lobby, children's club, spa and treatment room, banquet hall for 500, and 3 meeting rooms with leading edge technology.
Fattal Hotels says that the Ashdod Leonardo will serve the business community visiting the south and tourists mainly from France and Russia.
Fattal Hotels, established in 1999 has 32 hotels in Israel under the Leonardo, Magic, Herods and U brands.
