Businessman Arcadi Gaydamak Has sold Jerusalem's Bikur Holim hospital. Sources inform "Globes" that in the past few days, Gaydamak has sold the 19th century hospital buildings in downtown Jerusalem to Taaman Real Estate, owned by Shalom Haim, for NIS 101 million plus VAT.
Haim told "Globes" that he plans keeping the hospital, which will continue to operate, while at the same time the company is investigating options for new support buildings such as a hotel and nursing home, on construction rights not yet utilized on the land.
Haim said, "We have roots in Jerusalem and so we intend retaining the current character of the location. In the deal, Gaydamak was represented by Adv. Israel Shalev and Taaman by the Milham Gitlitz Law Firm.
Bikur Holim is Jerusalem's oldest hospital, which was first established in 1826 in the Old City and moved to its current building on the corner of Haneviim and Strauss Streets in 1910. In recent years, the hospital has been embroiled in financial difficulties and in recent weeks a decision was made to integrate it into Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
