Herzliya Interdisciplinary Center Middle East expert Dr. Guy Bechor says Hamas wants to topple the Palestinian Authority.

Middle East expert Dr. Guy Bechor of the Herzliya Interdisciplinary Center has told Nissim Mishal Radio FM103 that Hamas is orchestrating the latest wave of terror in order to topple the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank.

He said, "The current wave of terror is not terror 'lone wolves' but orchestrated from above. These are not unrelated terror attacks because of what you see on the Internet. This is a struggle by Hamas to topple the Palestinian Authority and it's sending out these people. You get a spate of a couple of attacks each day and it will carry on that way. Hamas is involved and financing is involved. These clips about the attacks don't just end up on the Internet. Somebody is putting them there. There are sites that should be made illegal. Most of these sites are operating from Gaza. There is the Hizab al Tahrir organization that should be made illegal. Abu Mazen is using political instruments and he doesn't want to endanger his position in Ramallah. There are other people among the Arab MKs. Nobody is naive about this.

Bechor also fiercely criticized the Israeli media, which he said is playing into the hands of the terror and strengthening terrorist activities by sowing panic among the public. He said, "Clearly the media fuels it. It does not do it intentionally but because it is there. I'm against live broadcasts from the scene of a terror attack. We should do it the way it is done in the US where broadcasts are always after the event. They report but by sterilizing the psychological repercussions of the terror. Ultimately terror is anxiety and that's what they want to intensify it on a national level. One stabbing becomes millions of stabbings and even billions of stabbings."

Bechor insists that the coverage by the Israeli media is fanning the terror when it should be a partner to the war against terror. "Do it but like in the US. They are aware that the psychological struggle is part of the struggle against terrorism everywhere. There is no need for open studios and the public does not need live updates every 10 minutes. People want to know but let them know every few hours. We don't need the pornography of each and every terror attack. You are serving the terrorists."
