A fire in the company servers farm disrupted calls, messages, and Internet services.

Extensive disruptions and difficulties in the Pelephone Communications Ltd. cellular network occurred for five hours today. Customers had great difficult making and receiving calls and in Internet surfing.

The malfunction resulted from a fire in the Pelephone servers farm in Petah Tikva, which damaged electrical cables in one of the main communications rooms. Disruptions in calls and Internet surfing all over Israel followed, and the company recommended that its customer use Wifi for surfing.

Around noon, Pelephone announced that proper functioning on its network was being gradually restored. The company said that Internet service would be restored first, followed by call and messaging service. At 3 PM, Pelephone announced, "Most customers already have full service."

Pelephone CEO Ran Guron said today at a company press conference that customers would be compensated for the malfunction, which lasted from the morning until late afternoon. He added that the compensation to be given had not yet been decided, and that this would take place after the company completed its probe of the incident.
