Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) (TASE: ELEC.B22) announced this morning that 15,000 Israeli homes were without power following another bout of heavy rainfall. The focus of the storms, as on Sunday and Monday, was in Tel Aviv, Herzliya, Ra'anana, Kfar Saba and the Sharon region. Serious flooding was reported in the region and with many traffic lights out of operation due to power outages, there has been chaos on the major highways in the area.
The IEC said, "Due to rainstorms that have resumed a number of high tension cables have been hit in the central region, the Sharon and the Haifa Bay area. IEC teams are dealing with the repairs and restoring power supply. We are talking about 15,000 households. This is a dynamic and changing situation and the IEC is continuing to work on an emergency footing."
Earlier this morning, the IEC has announced that all homes in the Sharon region that had been without power since the storms on Sunday, had had their electricity reconnected.
