The unemployment rate for 2014 was 5.9%, down from 6.2% in 2013, according to figures published today by the Central Bureau of Statistics.
The unemployment rate for December 2014 was 5.7%, up from 5.6% in November, and the rate for the fourth quarter of the year was 5.7%, compared with 6.2% in the third quarter.
High tech accounted for 9.1% of all employees in 2014 as a whole.
At 4.8%, the unemployment rate was lowest in the central district. Of communities with over 100,000 residents, the lowest unemployment rate was 4.4% in Petah Tikva.
The unemployment rate among Jews was 5%, compared with 6.1% among the Arab population, down from 5.3% for Jews and 7.2% for Arabs in 2013.
