The Israeli DIY website platform company has announced a second sports sponsorship deal. Wix already sponsors Manchester City.

Israeli DIY-website platform company Wix.com Ltd. (Nasdaq: WIX) has today announced a sponsorship deal with baseball team the New York Yankees. As part of the cooperation package, Wix will be the team's official website design sponsor and partner for 2016.

The partnership will include a campaign to find the New York Yankee's number one fan. The winner will build a site together with Wix at the TheBiggestYankeeFan.com domain.

Wix, founded in 2006 by CEO Avishai Abrahami, CTO Giora Kaplan and VP Client Development Nadav Abrahami, has developed a platform enabling users to easily set up and design their own website. The company has a market cap of $1.7 billion after its share price has risen 70% since the start of the year.

Wix CMO Omer Shai said, "Cooperation with a well-known baseball team like the New York Yankees is part of our strategy to leverage the enormous power that sport has in presenting our brand to the public at large."

This is not Wix's first involvement in sport. Six months ago, Wix announced a sponsorship deal with top English soccer team Manchester City and before that the company twice advertised during the Superbowl, the biggest sporting event in the US.

We are very excited to begin our relationship with Wix as the "Official Website Design Partner," said Michael J. Tusiani, New York Yankees Senior Vice President of Corporate Sales & Sponsorships. "Wix is offering our fans, worldwide, an innovative way to exhibit passion for the team through its unique website design and mobile platforms. We also look forward to working with Wix to strengthen its already established global brand."
