Pelephone Communications Ltd. has stolen a march on its rivals and disclosed its asking price for iPhones, ahead of the official launch tonight. The mobile operator will offer iPhones with a wide range of personalized pricing plans.
Cellcom Israel Ltd. (NYSE:CEL; TASE:CEL) will disclose its asking price for iPhones tonight, and Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR) will disclose the price tomorrow.
Pelephone has already begun taking orders for iPhones, although customers won't receive them until after midnight tonight, or tomorrow morning. Customers must sign 18-month commitments.
Pelephone's iPhone packages are similar to packages in other countries, including call-minutes, SMS messages, and Internet surfing. The basic package of NIS 299 includes 250 call-minutes, 250 SMS messages, 10 gigabytes (Gb) of Internet usage. With the basic services package, a 8-Gb basic memory iPhone 3G will cost NIS 399, the 16-Gb iPhone 3GS will cost NIS 799, and the 32-Gb iPhone 3GS will cost NIS 1,199.
Pelephone's second and more expensive package will cost NIS 349 for 300 call-minutes, 300 SMS messages, 10 gigabytes (Gb) of Internet surfing. With this package, a 8-Gb iPhone 3G will be free, the 16-Gb iPhone 3GS will cost NIS 399, and the 32-Gb iPhone 3GS will cost NIS 800.
Customers who just want to buy the iPhone, and use it on an existing phone contract, not the special iPhone contract, will pay considerably more. Paying in cash, the prices are NIS 2,625 for the iPhone 3G, NIS 3,150 for the 16Gb iPhone 3GS, and NIS 3,675 for the 32GB iPhone 3GS.
