Most Israelis won't increase Internet use in year ahead

The TIM survey found that Walla!, the most popular Israeli portal, leapfrogged YouTube into third place in August.

37.6% of Israeli surfers said they will increase their Internet use in the coming year, while 51.1% of surfers believe their Internet use will stay at the same level, the latest TIM survey reported for August reported today. Only 5.8% of surfers said that they will reduce their Internet use.

Google maintained its position as Israel's most popular website with a weekly exposure rate of 90.1%, down from 91.1% in July. Facebook strengthened its position in second place with a weekly exposure rate of 69.2%, up 5.7% from July.

The survey found that Walla Communications Ltd. was the most popular Israeli portal. Walla! leapfrogged past YouTube into third place with a weekly exposure rate of 64.5%, up from 63.1% in July. YouTube fell back to fourth place with a weekly exposure rate of 59.4%, which was 7.6% less than in July. In fifth place was Hebrew news site ynet with a weekly exposure rate of 57.2%, up from 56.8% in July.

Among financial websites, "Globes" remained the preferred website from the workplace, with a weekly exposure rate of 13.2%, while TheMarker's weekly exposure rate was only 12.1%. Overall, "Globes" weekly exposure rate was 13% in July, compared with 14.4% for TheMarker.
