Israel Railways resumed its normal schedule this morning after three weeks of severe disruptions. Lines were reopened after management received the interim report from external investigators examining the carriages of the type that caught fire at the end of last month.
The investigation found that the fire broke out due to structural fault in a specific carriage and not because of any mechanical breakdown that could threaten all of the carriages.
Israel Railways management decided to return all the carriages to services and this has enabled all lines to resume operations.
In addition, the Beersheva line also reopened this morning after infrastructure works that have been taking place over the past few weeks were completed. However, the Beersheva line will again close next week for maintenance work.
