Wavion will supply base stations to cover the capital Ouagadougou and other cities in the West African country.
Alvarion Ltd. (Nasdaq: ALVR; TASE: ALVR) subsidiary Wavion Ltd. will supply WiFi base stations for GSM operator Telecel SA in Burkina Faso, West Africa. Alvarion did not disclose the size of the deal.
Telecel has more than one million customers, out of Burkina Faso's population of 16 million. Wavion's network is in the capital Ouagadougou, to provide blanket coverage for the city's business districts, education campuses, hotels, international airport, and key residential areas. During the year, the network will be expanded to other cities, including Bobo-Dioulasso and Koudougou, allowing the service to reach over two million people in the country.
Alvarion's share price rose 1.6% in morning trading on the TASE today to NIS 4.47, after rising 4.4% on Nasdaq yesterday to $1.20, giving a market cap of $75 million.
