According to figures presented by the police to the Knesset economics committee last week, "Globes" calculates that between March 1 and July 11, 17,245 traffic reports were sent by 12 new digital traffic cameras. These included 1,361 reports for crossing a red light, 8,461 reports for speeding on the open highway, and 7,650 reports for speeding through a junction.
"Globes" calculations were based on the fines from these reports being NIS 1,000 for crossing a red light, NIS 750 for driving well over the speed limit and NIS 250 for being a little over the speed limit.
10 more digital cameras came into operation last month giving a major boost to this revenue.
