The Civil Aviation Authority expects 19% more flights by foreign carriers and 9% more flights by Israeli airlines.
Israel's Civil Aviation Authority expects 15% more flights to and from Israel this winter compared with last year's winter season. The winter season began on October 28 and will end on March 31 2013.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority the number of scheduled flights by foreign carriers to and from Ben Gurion Airport will rise by 19% this winter compared with the corresponding period last year. The number of scheduled flights by Israel carriers El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. (TASE: ELAL), Arkia Airlines Ltd., and Israir Airlines and Tourism Ltd. will rise by 9%.
Civil Aviation Authority head Giora Rom said today that licenses have been granted to 56 foreign airlines to land and take off from Ben Gurion Airport. During the winter season 656 scheduled flights are expected compared with 569 in the same period last year.
