Cofix Group Ltd. (TASE:CFX) today announced that it would open a new factory for the production of sandwiches and salads in Yavne in the coming days, following the group's expansion all over Israel.
The new 10,000-sq.m. factory will cost NIS 5 million to build. The chain said that the factory would enable Cofix and Super Cofix branches to supply 13,000 sandwiches a day.
Cofix CEO Haim Aharon said, "At the end of the year, the Cofix chain will open its 160th outlet. In view of the volume we are talking about, it is essential for the chain to have its own factory, which will create a relative advantage for us over the competition, and give us substantial supply security, quality, and speed."
The chain currently has 148 branches, and buys its products from external suppliers. Cofix said that with the opening of the Yavne plant, it would start a new product line, while maximizing the chain's innovation and ability to respond to changes in the food market.
Cofix believes that the new factory will be able to make 500,000 products a month, including suchi - a new product recently introduced to the menu offered by the chain to its customers.
The new factory will have 35 employees. Its CEO will be former Ace Israel merchandising manager Dorit Levi.
Opened three years ago, the Cofix chain has had a major impact, primarily because it offers all of its products for only NIS 5.
