In its Corporate Social Responsibility report, the Israeli pharmaceutical giant pledges to cut greenhouse gas emissions 15% by 2020.

Figures released by Teva on Monday in its Corporate Social Responsibility Highlights present the pharmaceutical giant’s work in several fields which receive less headline coverage than its financial performance. In one example, Teva has committed to reduce its energy consumption by 20% and greenhouse gas emissions by 15% by 2020; between 2012 and 2014 the company reduced such emissions by 6% and its water consumption was reduced by 17% in 2014.

Teva also announced its Target Zero vision to achieve “zero incidents, zero injuries, and zero releases into the environment.”

Another figure in the report reveals that 49% of all management positions are staffed by women and 35% of executives and senior management are women, which compares with aglobal average of 22% (there is, however, only one woman inTeva'stop managment EVP Corporate Marketing and Communications Iris Beck-Codner).

In all, women account for 46% of the Teva workforce.

Meanwhile, Teva said it launched 315 generic medicines and held 130 clinical trials in 2015. According to the drugmaker, as the largest supplier of medicine in the United Kingdom, it saved local authorities $4.3 billion in 2014 while worldwide savings amounted totens of billions of dollars.

“The highlights released today demonstrate our evolution over the last few years as we make healthcare accessible for billions of people around the world and seek to reduce the burden on national economies and investing in development to bring new therapeutic options to patients,” said Teva President and CEO Erez Vigodman.

“These highlights demonstrate Teva’s continued commitment to offer real value to patients and healthcare systems around the globe,” said Beck-Codner. "The report also highlights our sustained efforts to preserve the environment, as well as our steadfast commitment to ensure that Teva employees achieve their fullest potential in a healthy work environment. As a whole, it reflects the progress we've made, our vision for the future and our belief that the global healthcare industry must play an increasingly integral role in creating accessible, innovative and sustainable solutions for people everywhere.”
