New airline offers Haifa-Cyprus flights for €39

Cypriot airline Tus Airways will operate nine weekly flights from Israel to Larnaca.

Cypriot airline Tus Airways has been officially launched, and is commencing flights on February 14, The company's aim is to connect Cyprus with the nearby countries in the region, as a response to the collapse of Cyprus Airways.

Tus Airways, now Cyprus's sole airline, will operate from its home airport in Larnaca, and will operate flights to various destinations in Israel, Jordan, Egypt, etc., including important cities like Tel Aviv, Athens, Amman, and Beirut; Greek islands such as Crete and Rhodes; and secondary airports, such as Haifa, Eilat, Alexandria, Sharm-el-Sheikh, and Luxor.

Flights from Tel Aviv to Larnaca will begin on February 14, flights from Haifa to Larnaca on February 18, flights from Larnaca to Crete on March 28, and flights to Rhodes will begin at the end of the year, and will continue during the entire year. The company's initial target is to fly from Cyprus to 16 destinations.

During the winter, Tus Airways will opertate seven weekly flights to Larnaca from Tel Aviv and two weekly flights from Larnaca to Haifa. Flights from Ben Gurion Airport (Tel Aviv) will leave on Sunday, Monday, Thursday, and Friday. This convenient timetable will enable businesspeople to fly out in the morning and return in the evening, and people going on vacation can fly early in the morning and return late at night. At this stage, the flights will leave from Terminal 3 at Ben Gurion Airport, but the company will switch to Terminal 1 for the summer.

Tus Airways also plans to make Haifa one of its key destinations in the region, and will initially offer regular flights from Haifa to Larnaca for the convenience of residents of the northern and central regions, who can travel to Haifa by railway, with a convenient ride from there to the airport, undergo a check taking only 45 minutes, and board the airplane. Haifa Airport will be one of the company's main airports, and will be included in the GDS global system as an international destination starting today.

One-way tickets from Haifa to Larnaca will start at €39, including taxes, and from Tel Aviv to Larnaca from €69, including taxes. Tickets can be ordered through travel agents or on the company website, which will also appear in Hebrew.

Flight service includes only soft drinks. The baggage allowance is one piece of hand luggage up to 8 kilos per passenger. Checked-in baggage of up to 15 kilos will cost €20 if prepaid through the company website, or €40 at the airport.

The airline says that its name is an acronym of "The Ultimate Schedule", but it might be worth noting that "tus" is Hebrew for "to fly".
